Nigel Dolan

Photo of Nigel DolanIn 1992 Nigel Dolan, son of the legendary Bryan Dolan, went back to the place where he was born and assumed the mantle as Saltram senior red winemaker. Nigel already had a reputation as one of the best winemakers in South Australia and his years at Saltram further enhanced his stature as a genuine Barossa great. In February 2000, he was named the Barossa Valley's Winemaker of the Year. His Saltram Number One Shiraz is now considered one of the benchmark Barossa Valley shiraz styles while the Mamre Brook Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz continue to win accolades and gold medals. From vintage 2000, Nigel has taken on a more senior role for Beringer Blass as Senior Red Winemaker for South Australian Central wine regions (Clare, Barossa, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale) while retaining full control over the style and quality of the Saltram wines.
