Beringer Blass' Australian winemaking heritage dates back to the late 19th century when the original Mildara winery was established at the Jamieson's Run sheep station in Victoria, within the Chaffey Brothers' pioneering Murray River irrigation settlement. Again a pioneer in developing vineyard land in the now-famous Coonawarra region, the Mildara name became part of Australian winemaking legend with the great 1963 Coonawarra Cabernet dubbed "Peppermint Pattie". Not long after, another legend was born. Wolf Blass Wines was founded in 1966 by German-born Barossa Valley winemaker Wolf Blass, who was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2001 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to the wine industry. Credited with revolutionising red winemaking in Australia, Wolf Blass was also recently honoured by industry peers with the prestigious Maurice O'Shea award of 2000. Now, this Australian legend has teamed up with California's Beringer Wine Estates, enabling Beringer Blass to offer the world's leading portfolio of luxury and premium wines. |
